Why We're Different
There are many aspects to Dr. Downs and Dr. Le that make us different from other dental offices. We're not your typical dental office. Now, we know that many other dentists make that claim, but we mean it. And we invite you to put us to the test!
Here are just a few ways that Dr. Downs and Dr. Le's office are different from other dental offices in Denver you can choose from...
- We stand by our dental work. If there is ever a problem with a restoration or proceedure, we will address it without any additional fees being passed onto the patient.
- We provide several services so that patients do not have to be referred out of the office. Patients can be seen for general dentistry, dental cleanings, orthodontics (braces), endodontics (root canals), veneers, implants and removable partial/dentures.
- Dr. Downs' and Dr. Le's specialty is full mouth reconstruction and smile makeovers — otherwise known as cosmetic dentistry. Patients can have all their dental needs addressed by Dr. Downs and Dr. Le due to their quest for the best in technological advances as well as the materials we use in our restorations.
- Cutting-Edge Technology: We have the most advanced technologies that a dental office can have. This includes but not limited to electric handpieces, digital x-rays, digital impression taking for crowns, Biopak to evaluate your TMJ and muscle activity, T-scan to evaluate the force and timing of your bite, along with laser treatment to assist us in gum disease, implant placement surgeries and smile designs. Dr. Downs and Dr. Le utilize cutting-edge technology in their dental practice to give you the most enjoyable experience possible...
- Digital X-rays.
Radiographs allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes. Radiographs enable us to detect cavities in between your teeth, determine bone level, and health of bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs.
Dental radiographs are invaluable aids in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health. Exposure time for dental radiographs is extremely minimal. Our doctors utilize digital imaging technology within the office, which means that the exposure time is about 80 percent less when compared to traditional radiographs. Digital imaging can also help us retrieve valuable diagnostic information. We may be able to see cavities better.
The advantages of digital imaging enables us to not only store patient images, but also enables us to quickly transfer them to appropriate specialists or insurance companies.
Digital X-rays offer more precision since we view the image on a computer monitor and we are able to zoom in on questionable areas to get a better view, instead of holding up a 35mm film up to the light. Digital X-rays results in 1/6th the radiation exposure to you.
- Intraoral Cameras:
Dr. Downs and Dr. Le utilize intraoral camera technology that helps enhance your understanding of your diagnosis. An intraoral camera is a very small camera, often just a few millimeters in length. An intraoral camera allows our practice to view clear, precise images of your mouth, teeth and gums, in order for us to accurately make a diagnosis. With clear, defined, enlarged images, you see details that may be missed by standard mirror examinations. This can mean faster diagnosis with less chair-time for you!
Intraoral cameras also enable our practice to save your images in our office computer to provide a permanent record of treatments. These treatments can be printed for you, other specialists, and our lab or insurance companies.
- Digital Crown Impressions: Cadent Itero (www.cadentinc.com)
In the past, a crown impression was taken using a goopie material that was loaded onto a tray and put in the patient’s mouth. Once in, the doctor and patient had to wait for the material to set up. This can take up to 5 minutes. During this time, the patient has a mouth full of goopie, runny material that most likely will cause a gagging reaction. With digital impressions, Dr. Le and Dr. Downs are able to take a much more accurate impression of the patient’s tooth just by taking a few digital scans of the tooth structure and the opposing arch. Once the information is captured, the computer then creates a 3-D model on the computer screen that the doctors can evaluate before sending it digitally to the laboratory for fabrication of the crown. With a precise impression, the laboratory is able to make a better fitting crown for the patient.
- Laser Therapy (www.dekalasers.com)
Laser therapy is one of dentistry's latest advances. In the spirit of commitment to the highest level of treatment for our patients, Drs. Downs and Le have incorporated the DEKA CO2 Cold Laser into their treatment options. This is cutting edge technology has proven miraculous results in the treatment of soft tissue, dental implant surgeries and gum related problems. Lasers deliver energy in the form of light. Depending on the intended result, this energy travels at different wavelengths and is absorbed by a "target." In dentistry, these targets can be enamel, decay, gum tissue, or whitening enhancers. Each one absorbs a different wavelength of light while reflecting others. Laser dentistry can be used for both tooth and soft tissue related procedures. For soft tissue (surgical) procedures, it eliminates the need for scalpels, creates a sterile surgical field with little to no bleeding, and healing is much faster and virtually painless.

-
BioPAK: ( www.bioresearchinc.com)
There are many patients that suffer from TMD, headaches related to TMD and also muscle fatigue in the head and neck. The BioPAK Measuring System is an advanced apparatus that objectively evaluates the activity of your temporomandibular joint (TMJ), your craniofacial muscles and the complete stomatognathic system. This capability is an invaluable aid to the diagnosis and treatment of craniofacial pain and TMD.

-
Tek-Scan (http://www.tekscan.com/dental.html)
For years, testing your bite has been largely a matter of guesswork for dentists. Articulation paper, waxes, pressure indicator paste, etc. were we had to assess and balance your biting forces. Most of these methods are not sensitive enough to detect simultaneous contact, and none measure both biting time and the force of your bite. Dr. Downs and Dr. Le have the Tek-Scan software that allows them to adjust your bite without any guesswork. The software graphically displays both force and time of any premature contacts to the user. This information then allows Dr. Downs and Dr. Le to have predictable occlusal control during your adjustment procedure. For our patients, the Tek-Scan will provide a much more balanced bite after an occlusal adjustment procedure.
- Precision Dentistry:
When you seek care at our office, you are assured that our doctors and staff utilize the latest in technology to enhance the quality and fit for your dental care.
Many dentists use air-driven "hand-pieces" (the dental term for "drills"). While acceptable for many procedures, these air powered hand pieces all have a degree of non-concentricity; they do not rotate perfectly smoothly.
For the most precise aspects of restorative procedures, we use electric hand-pieces. This results in extraordinarily precise interfaces between your tooth and your new restoration (crown, veneer, or filling). This will bring more comfort to you as well. With a more precise tool, there is less vibration and less noise!
-
Biocompatible Restorations:
We provide biocompatible restorations that are made in the USA. We use one of the best laboratories in the US to fabricate all of our restorations. This allows us the certainty that your restorations are made from the best materials and metals. We also provide restorations that are non-metal (all ceramic or porcelain restorations) for those who want the most natural and esthetic look.
- Teeth Whitening:
There are many different modalities to whitening your teeth. At our office, we provide the in office Boost! system by Ultradent. Boost! provides our patients with a deep and profound whitening result in just one hour. We also provide the Treswhite teeth whitening system by Opalescence (as seen in magazines such as Style and O).
